This book is short and sweet! My favorite mouse (from the If You Give A... series) finds himself with seven lovely pumpkins to decorate! He paints each pumpkin to represent a different feeling - happy, sad, silly, surprised, etc. It's a fantastic story to teach children about emotions! I've used this book with a couple different students this week! We also made a sweet little craft to go with the story!
First, we read through the book and talked about each one of the pumpkins! Then, we went through the book again and made our own pumpkins to match the given emotion!
One of my non-verbal students also worked very hard to make phrases using AAC, such as "silly pumpkin" or "scary pumpkin."
I highly recommend this book! You can target sequencing, emotions, vocabulary, phrases, and so much more!
Do you have a favorite pumpkin book? Please leave a comment and let me know about it!
It's almost 9pm here and I'm pooped, but I just had to stop in to share these little activities with you! If I was mouse, I would've painted a tired pumpkin! haha
*I included an Amazon Affiliate link. I would never recommend a book I didn't love!*
Have a wonderful evening! Thank you for visiting! :)
