May: Flipping For Literature

If you've perused my blog a time or two, then you probably know how much I ADORE picture books! Books are a pivotal part of my therapy. They're a springboard for language, they're chock full of fun vocabulary words, and they can transport my students to a whole new place! Books are my favorite therapy tools.

*This post contains Amazon Affiliate links for your convenience. I would never recommend a book that I didn't love!*

I've always loved book companions (activity packets that go along with a book) and I decided to approach the concept of a book companion in a whole new way! Flip book companions! My articulation students loved the interactive flip books I created for them, so I decided to make some flip books to go along with my favorite stories to use with my language kids!

I created a whole new series - Flipping For Literature!
This gigantic bundle features 52 interactive flip books and 52 additional themed booklets. Each month covers 4-5 different books to ensure that there's a book for each week of the year! I'm super excited to be adding to my literacy toolbox! This bundle is 50% off every day for super savings!

Here's a peek of everything from May:
These activities will cover first and second grade common core standards in the area of literature; however, if you're a speech pathologist these activities can span across all grade levels! They'll address skills such as story elements (characters, setting, problem/solution, etc), comprehension, writing, comparing/contrasting, and many more skills over the course of this next year! These activities would be ideal for a work on writing center, whole group lessons, and one fabulous teacher shared with me that she uses these flip books as "treats!" I just love that idea! Nothing warms my heart more than a student having fun with literature!

Here is the May packet!
Let's take a peek inside! The month of May features some of my favorite books!

A Chair for My Mother by Vera Williams
This story always warms my heart! If you're not familiar it's about a young girl who lives with her mother and grandmother. They save all their change to buy a chair, as they lost all of their furniture in a house fire. It's such a positive story and it's perfect to read during the week of Mother's Day.

Library Lion by Michelle Knudson
If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I'm a #crazycatlady haha! Obviously, I just adore this story! It's a wonderful tale of acceptance, friendship, and a little rule breaking!

The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant
I love this story! It reminds me of the summers I spent with my grandparents on their tobacco farm in Kentucky. This story takes place in the mountains of Virginia. A young girl narrates this delightful story of family! I also think it's a great book to use before summer vacation!

The Gardener by Sarah Stewart
This story is a collection of letters penned by a young girl named Lydia Grace. Her family is going through some hard times so she temporarily moves in with her uncle. She helps him with his bakery and completely changes his life! A MUST READ! Truly, it's one of my favorite stories.

If you're interested in all 52 books that I'll be covering this year, download the preview of my bundle! I have mapped them all out. I put a lot of thought into my book selection, but mostly... I selected 52 of my favorite books! :)

I'm so excited about this collection of flip book companions! Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful day!
